Kara Technologies develops hyper-realistic digital humans, an AI enabled plug-and-play solution capable of translating any written text into visual sign language. Their mission is to make sign language available everywhere, at any time for the Deaf community.

Why we invested

Kara Technology’s product has been co-developed with the Deaf Community since day 1. The team’s priorities to develop a product well suited for their community has inherently made for a better product and a competitive advantage, valued by commercial customers.

When we first invested, we supported Kara’s expansion in the emergency notifications sector. Their wider systems change aspiration is to make any content available in sign language in real time.

How are we measuring their impact?

The scale of Kara’s impact is directly tied to the number of users they reach through their commercial agreements. We are therefore using indicators around commercial successes to inform this scale.
