Our Process

  1. Reach Out

You can get in touch with our team at any stage through the form below or by emailing kiaora@soul.capital

Send through materials for our team to review, like a pitch deck or a business plan. This makes it easier for us to determine whether you’d be a good fit for our fund and vice versa!

  2. First Meeting

We’ll reach out to meet with you and your team. A typical first meeting will introduce the impact of your venture, about your team, and understanding why your venture will be successful. This is also an opportunity for us to tell you more about ourselves as a fund.

We like to work with founders that are purpose-driven and values-aligned to our kaupapa. Our meetings usually start with whanaungatanga which is important to us to understand the ‘why’ behind your kaupapa. This indicates to us how you are planning to operate and grow your venture to scale your impact.

  3. Due Diligence

You’ll present to our Investment Committee if we’ve decided to start the preliminary due diligence process. They’ll let us know whether we can proceed into full due diligence. As part of our mission to catalyse investment into impactful ventures, where we can share due diligence with others, we will. We also like to work with other funds and collaborate, so if you have already secured a lead, we’ll look to share some of the due diligence work load.

  4. Term Sheet

If we’re leading the investment, we’ll put forward a term sheet to your company. As impact first investors, we will take considerations to ensure the integrity of the impact of the business is protected, in whichever way contexts may change.

  5. Investment Approval, Management, Measurement

Once our Investment Committee has approved the team’s recommendation for investment into your venture, we will engage lawyers and draw up investment documents to move into the transaction phase.

As part of our investment, we require you to report on your impact. We’ll help you work through your Theory of Change to identify the levers you can pull to create systems change and extract impact indicators from there.
